Children’s Book Week Party with Clifford

Everyone has access to a pile of ridiculous craft and art materials, including whatever Miss Caitlin can raid from the decoratives department at the secondhand store (Yikes!). The “worst” piece of art will win a hideously tacky trophy (of course) at the end of the night. Creativity encouraged…but not required. 7th-12th grade; no registration required.

Julie and Gary Beyer will speak about Gary’s diagnosis with Inclusion Body Myositis, a rare and incurable degenerative muscle disease. They will discuss how they have dealt with the diagnosis, how they stay positive in the face of challenges, and how their relationship has changed and grown. Invisible illnesses impact many in our lives. Join us for an uplifting and positive discussion.

Author Talk & Book Signing: Bob Buege

Books & Company brings us another wonderful author event, this time with baseball historian Bob Buege. Nestled between north Seventh and Eighth and West Chambers and Burleigh streets, Borchert Field was Milwaukee’s major sports venue for 64 years (1888-1952). Buege reintroduces sports fans to this rickety wooden stadium where, for generations, Wisconsin residents had a close up view of sports history in the making along with rodeos, thrill shows, presidential visits and even multiple eruptions of Mount Vesuvius.

Naeim Rahmani: A Classical Guitar Concert

Join us for an after-hours library concert with Naeim Rahmani. Originally from Iran, Naeim immigrated to the US as a refugee in his teens. He completed his Master’s degree at the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee under renowned Cuban guitarist Rene Izquierdo. Naeim performs regularly in the midwest and around the country. He has also performed internationally in Mexico and Spain. In 2015, he was a prizewinner in competitions in the Northwest Guitar Festival and Competition, the San Francisco Bay Guitar Competition…
