5 Reasons to Love Lake Country in Fall
Are you feeling it yet? You know what I am talking about, the spirit, the adventure…the comforting feeling of fall! The anticipation of all things fall is killing me, we already have the cooler temperatures, kids are back to school, pumpkin-spiced everything, football, and we are just starting to see tiny bits of color changes among the acres and acres of trees we are so blessed to have in our community. I, for one-cannot wait any longer for the hues of reds, oranges, golds, browns and purples to sweep lake country off it’s feet! It got me thinking about my favorite things about living in the lake country area, especially in the fall season.
1. You have 33 lakes to choose from to take the family for a brisk autumn walk or to watch the sunset!
2. There are dozens of farms, orchards and markets to pick pumpkins, apples, go for a hayride and engage in fall activities.
3. The views of all of the colors of fall and endless! Waukesha County is ablaze with color in autumn. You will enjoy a moderate climate with temperatures reaching the 70s throughout September and October, but by the end of November, you’ll feel winter’s chill with 30° days and the first frost. Some great choices are Rustic Road 86 and Lapham Peak where you will see amazing views from way up high and get some incredible photos with your loved ones!
4. Scenic Hiking is in abundance! See the beauty of lake country among flat to wooded trails on the Kettle Moraine State Forest Southern Unit, the Lake Country Recreational Trail, and Nashotah Park. See all the details here.
5. Warming up with a coffee, latte, apple cider or hot chocolate is easy in the lake country area! Coffee shops are everywhere! Check it out.
