Did you know that 1 in 8 women in the U.S. will be diagnosed with breast cancer in their lifetime?

Early detection is one of the most important ways to fight breast cancer. This month, let’s come together as a community to raise awareness, support those affected, and encourage early screenings. 💖

Here in Waukesha County, there are several local resources available for mammograms and screenings. Taking the time for regular checkups can save lives!

🌸 How you can make a difference:

1. Schedule your mammogram if you’re due for a screening.

2. Share a story of a loved one or survivor to spread hope.

3. Attend local events or fundraisers!

4. Donate to organizations supporting breast cancer research and patients.

As we approach the spooky season this coming October we thought we’d comb the internet for legends, tales + folklore in WI.

*Note: we do not claim any of it to be true, it’s just for fun.

The Vanishing Hitchhiker of Highway 18

Highway 18 in Jefferson County has its own version of the classic “vanishing hitchhiker” tale. Drivers along this rural stretch of road have reported picking up a young woman who is hitchhiking late at night. According to the legend, the woman seems distressed and asks for a ride to a nearby town. However, as the car approaches the destination, she mysteriously disappears from the vehicle, leaving no trace.
