DIY Homemade Lip Balm
Ever wonder how to make lip balm? It has been a favorite family pastime in our home! My daughter has been loving making her own lip balm, and has even created a line of lip balm, called Smooch Lip Balm. We would love to show you how to create your own as well, it is easier than you think! You can find a lot of these ingredients at health food stores or online. My daughter and I were recently on The Morning Blend television show on TMJ4 in Milwaukee, WI and we shared our how to, here is the run-down incase you missed it or wanted the list of ingredients!
Ingredients:
3 tsp Sweet Almond Oil
3 1/2 tsp Beeswax
2 tsp Shea Butter
1-2 tsp Essential Oil (to flavor, your choice)
Also need: Medium sizes glass Mason jar, pot, wooden stir stick, water, empty lip balm tubes (10-15 per batch)
Bring water to boil in pot (about half full)
In an empty medium-sized mason jar add in sweet almond oil, beeswax, shea butter.
Put entire jar into boiling water (do not dump) stir (with a wooden stir stick) mixture occasionally, leave in water untilall melted.
Add essential oil for flavor.
Remove jar from boiling water, pour mixture into lip balms tubes, pouring carefully.
Allow tubes to “dry” or “harden” for about 15 minutes.
Then wipe any excess wax from outside of tubes, cap tubes!
Optional: Create or design labels for your lip balm! We use Avery labels and print them right at home.
