MARCUS THEATRES® PRESENT TWO HALLOWEEN FILM SERIES THIS OCTOBER: ONE SCARY, ONE NOT-SO-SCARY

Milwaukee, October 3, 2017… To help ghosts and goblins of all ages get in the Halloween spirit, Marcus Theatres® and Marcus Wehrenberg Theatres are offering two Halloween-themed film series at select locations throughout October.

Beginning October 5, classic horror films from the ‘70s and ‘80s will return to the big screen during the Fright Night Film Series. Admission for these movies is just $5 per person.

Kicking off October 13, the Kids Dream Not-so-Scary Halloween Film Series presented by American Family Insurance will feature family favorites that are a little spooky and a whole lot of fun. Admission for these films is just $3 per person. Showtimes and Trick-or-Treat Party

Showtimes for Fright Night films will be Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays at 10 p.m., and Not-so-Scary Halloween movies will play on Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays at 10 a.m. In advance of “Shrek,” all locations participating in the Not-so-Scary Halloween series will also host a Trick-or-Treat Costume Party on October 21 at 9 a.m. Children of all ages will enjoy trick-or-treating, Halloween-themed crafts, games, snacks and more!

Fright Night Series:

October 5-7: “The Shining” – Rated R

Lauded as one of the best horror films of all time, “The Shining” tells the story of a family headed to an isolated hotel for the winter. Once settled in, an evil and spiritual presence influences the father into violence, while his son is plagued by psychic premonitions.

 

October 12-14: “A Nightmare on Elm Street” – Rated R

Several people are hunted by a cruel serial killer who kills his victims in their dreams. While the survivors are trying to find the reasons for being chosen, the murderer won’t lose any chance to kill them as soon as they fall asleep.

 

October 19-21: “The Exorcist” – Rated R

When a girl is possessed by a mysterious entity, her mother seeks the help of two priests to save her daughter.

 

October 26-28: “Halloween” – Rated R

Fifteen years after murdering his sister on Halloween night 1963, Michael Myers escapes from a mental hospital and returns to the small town of Haddonfield to kill again.

 

Not-so-Scary Halloween Series presented by American Family Insurance:

October 13-15: “Monsters vs. Aliens” – Rated PG
A woman transformed into a giant after she is struck by a meteorite on her wedding day becomes part of a team of monsters sent in by the U.S. government to defeat an alien mastermind trying to take over Earth.

 

October 20-22: “Shrek” – Rated PG
After his swamp is filled with magical creatures, Shrek agrees to rescue Princess Fiona for a villainous lord in order to get his land back.

 

October 27-29: “The Book of Life” – Rated PG
Centered around the “Day of the Dead,” a young man is torn between fulfilling the expectations of his family and following his heart. From there, he embarks on an adventure that spans three fantastic worlds where he must face his greatest fears.
