5 reasons to shop lovely

Do you dream of a home filled with beautiful and unique items? Where can you find the most fabulous gifts? How can where you shop make a difference in the community? Here is my short list of reasons to spend your time and money shopping at our lovely lake country shops.

  1. Support a Local Mom! Most of the items that you find are created by women who live right here in lake country. Every time I check out one of our shops, I am amazed by the creativity and talent of these women. Investing in our community is a win for everyone!

  2. Repurposed Items. I’m not talking about reusing ziplocks here. No, no, it’s so much better than that! There seems to be an endless supply of vintage finds that can be turned into something fabulous. Card catalogs that become sofa tables, feed sacks that become footstools, signs from license plates, and how about all the stunning painted furniture?

  3. Better for the Planet. A few years ago, I worked at a big box store where you can find lots of home decor items at a low price if you hit the sales right. Every week, we got an entire truck load of product, most of it from China. We would spend the next couple of days removing all the plastic and styrofoam packaging. So, lets just think about what it takes to make, package, and ship a tchotchke around the world. It’s not so great for our planet.

  4. Create a Memory. If you are looking for a fool-proof way to make someone you love smile every time they see if a gift from you, spend an afternoon together painting a sign or making some pottery. Seeing something you made together is like an instant hug!

  5. Beautiful and Unique. A well-designed home will reflect both your personal style and your values. As you carefully take the time to find the perfect items to accent your space, items that are one-of-a-kind and suit you perfectly, you’ll find joy in the hunt and joy in your home.

Next time you would like a refresh your style, grab your bestie and spend the afternoon shopping lovely.

I’m a Lake Country Native, born and raised right here playing in the hills and lakes of southeastern Wisconsin. My 3 children and 5 grandchildren are a dream-come-true, they fill my life with a crazy love and more adventure than I ever could have imagined. Together we enjoy all kinds of shenanigans; hiking, biking, art fairs, concerts, farmer’s markets and lots of food!  A couple of years ago, I decided to turn my passion into a career, and returned to school for Architecture and Interior Design. I aspire to help families throughout the area create homes that are both beautiful and suit them perfectly. This is such an exciting opportunity to write about family, home, and community here on Lake Country Mom. // Julie Pontell

We love you, Lake Country!
