Mother’s Day is just around the corner! What is your Mother’s Day style? I have personally celebrated a few different ways. One year I wanted nothing more than to be able to take a long nap with no interruptions, and to sleep in past 5:00 am, and to go to bed early with out having to take care of my lovely kiddo. That might have been the year of the terrible twos, or the wicked three-nager. I can’t remember… I think it’s obvious I was slightly sleep deprived! Another year I wanted to go out to brunch and be waited on by a fabulous waitstaff and not worry about a dirty kitchen or dishes piling up in the sink. And finally there are the years that I just want to be surrounded by my loves and have a cozy wonderful day, enjoying the spring weather and working in my garden.
What To Get Your Favorite Mom?
I always had a hard time deciding what to get my Mom for Mother’s Day (this year is my first year with out her), but her last few years I knew what made her the happiest. It wasn’t jewelry or another tchotchke to put in her house. It wasn’t something she could look at day in and day out. It was something she could unabashedly enjoy the minute I gave it to her. Candy from Sweet P’s Pantry. Not only are Sharon’s treats absurdly delicious, but they are all-natural too, and never uses artificial flavors or preservatives! Sweet P’s specializes in Toffee and Chocolate but offers a wide array of sweet treats. I had the unbelievable opportunity to stop in a get a tour of her shop in Downtown Oconomowoc and she showed me some of her new treats. Her Margarita Pecans are addicting – My Dad sent me back to get him a large bag after I let him sample mine. There are also some fabulous vegan offerings in her shop – the Date & Nut Bar is moist and decadent. And my son is a sucker for their gummy bears and chocolate covered pretzels! Maybe your mom, or mommy friends don’t live near by, the best part is Sweet P’s ships!

Natasha Wertheimer
Hi Guys! I’m Natasha, a lovely mommy in her 30’s. I’m in the most beautiful relationship with my boyfriend, Jason, and together we live in Oconomowoc with our two goofy goldendoodles – Honey & Softy, and my 6 year-old son, the light of my life – Reilly. I’m originally from Dubuque, Iowa, and previously lived on the East Coast for about a decade, but I am so happy to call Lake Country my home. My love of cooking, baking and food started very young with parents who loved to explore new flavors and cultures, as well as having a mom that operated a chocolate shop before I was born. In my free time I absolutely love trying and creating new recipes – mostly sweet, but love to dive into the Asian flavor profiles of the savory dishes. I also love learning about wine, enjoying the arts, practicing yoga, sipping a good cup of coffee and traveling. I fell in love with my boyfriend in the kitchen and I hope I can make you fall in love with the recipes and food knowledge I’ll be sending your way as a contributor for The Lake Country Mom. // Follow her blog, Love in An Oven // Facebook // Instagram
