Camping in Waukesha County

I don’t know if there is anything better than campfires, s’mores, hiking, sleeping in tents, exploring local trails and taking in all the local sights.

Waukesha County Parks offer both Family and Group style camping!

Menomonee Park is located in the Villages of Lannon and Menomonee Falls. The park offers countless recreational opportunities. It features 470 acres of rolling fields and shrublands, high-quality maple woods, wetlands, and a 16-acre quarry pond with a large beach.

Details:

  • Each campsite is equipped with a picnic table and a fire ring with a grill.
  • There are no electric campsites at Menomonee Park.
  • Firewood sales by Park Rangers are not available from April 1 – mid-May and mid-September – October 31.
    Self-serve firewood is available during the camping season at the Park Office at Menomonee Park.
  • Please note that beginning October 1, campground water may be unavailable.
  • Please note that the park does not have dump stations. You can find a list of local dump stations here (subject to change).

    Mukwonago Park is a 355-acre site that includes a high ridge formed during the last glacial period, which stretches nearly the length of the park. Park visitors of all ages will be delighted to discover the park’s commanding view of the rolling terrain and farmlands typical of southeastern Wisconsin.

    Details:

    • There are 7 electric family campsites, 2 electric group sites, and 2 hammock camping sites.
      • Plan to bring a 50 ft. cord to reach the pedestal at electric sites.
      • Plan to bring your own hammock(s) and straps at the hammock sites.
        • Hammock Camping Amenity Guidelines – Be kind to trees and posts:
          • Hammocks may only be attached with tree-friendly suspension systems using wide straps, bands, or belts to avoid damage.
          • Trees/posts may not be damaged in any way; no cutting of branches, no use of screws, eye bolts, nails, or other piercing objects.
          • Live trees must be mature enough to be able to handle the weight easily.
          • Hammocks must stay within the designated area.

      Muskego Park is a 193-acre parcel that was purchased in 1958 as the County’s first regional park. Many trails wind through Muskego Park Hardwoods, offering a tranquil atmosphere and home to abundant wildlife.

      Details:

      • There are 9 electric family campsites and 1 electric group site.
        • Plan to bring a 50 ft. cord to reach the pedestal.
      • Each campsite is equipped with a picnic table and a fire ring with a grill.
      • Firewood sales by Park Rangers are not available from April 1 – mid-May and mid-September – October 31.
        Self-serve firewood is available during the camping season in the Family Camp Area at Muskego Park.

      Naga-Waukee Park spans 206 acres and offers a spectacular view of Nagawicka Lake as you meander down the boardwalk to the boat launch and beach. The oak and hickory forest and thick undergrowth define the trails that wind throughout the park, which is home to many different species of wildlife.

      Details:

      • Each campsite is equipped with a picnic table and a fire ring with a grill.
      • There are no electric campsites at Naga-Waukee Park.
      • Firewood sales by Park Rangers are not available from April 1 – mid-May and mid-September – October 31.
