New book “Exploring Milwaukee with Kids” helps families put down their devices and explore the city together
Milwaukee local and founder {who we love!} of MiltownMoms.com, Calie Herbst, debuts new book, inspiring families to find adventures and spend quality time together all year round.
For Milwaukee residents, there’s a simple and local solution. Author Calie Herbst, founder of MiltownMoms.com, released a new book November 1st with the goal of inspiring families to discover all that Milwaukee has to offer year round.
“Exploring Milwaukee with Kids” takes families through each Wisconsin season, offering tips on the best places to go for family-friendly adventures.
“I want to connect readers with all that Milwaukee has to offer for kids and families. I’ve always loved traveling and exploring new places, and now I’m doing that locally, with three young kids in tow,” explains author Calie Herbst. “My website readers say they are constantly looking for things they can do as a whole family.”
And the book aims to benefit families in bigger ways, too. “The research is clear,” Herbst says. “Quality time as a family is one of the most important ways to increase kids’ self-esteem, create strong bonds, and prevent risky behaviors.”
The book offers ideas to soak up summer with visits to water parks & splash pads, berry picking orchards, free summer concerts, and kid-friendly festivals. In fall, readers will find the best apple orchards, pumpkin patches, and unique Halloween events.
They’ll get tips to make the most of winter on sledding and tubing hills, toboggan runs, ice skating rinks, and horse-drawn sleigh rides. And as the weather warms up again, they can learn about maple sugaring and venture out on a kid-friendly hike.
All year round, the book enables families to explore the arts, nature centers, live theater, museums, state parks, local tours, gardens, zoos, and festivals that make Milwaukee a great place for kids and families.
The book is now available on amazon.com & barnesandnoble.com. Find out more at milwaukeewithkids.com.
