Welcome to the lake country hot seat! We believe in supporting local, and being apart of our community. We cannot think of a better way to get to know the owners of local businesses, community leaders, makers and shakers than to ask them questions to learn their knowledge, advice, wisdom, challenges, wins, and maybe some fun personal tidbits as well. We are hoping a little interview will help drive traffic for them by gaining insight in trust to who they are by you!

Tell me more about yourself and what you currently do?

We are celebrating our 10th year as a high-end photographer who specializes in empowering others, mostly through luxury boudoir experiences. I am a single mom to a wonderful 10 year boy and we have an adorable cat. Along with helping others, I love to read, travel and go on hikes.

What have been the highlights? What’s the best part of your job?

My absolute favorite part is watching people let go of any fears of imperfection or flaws and see themselves in a beautiful and confident way.

What are the first things customers see when they walk through the doors of your studio?

We create a warm and inviting space so that you feel comfortable but also pretty with a mix of romance and goddess vibes.

What are the “secrets” to your success?

The secret is that I am giving you so much love and support while directing you through everything. I always see the good in others and through my lens, I get to show you beauty in a way I see you but that is also within you.

What is your background? How did you get into photography? I see your do mostly boudoir, how did you end up with this niche?

I actually never saw this coming. I’ve always had a calling to help others; I actually have a background in childcare, working with children with disabilities and cna work.

Take it back a few years from then in high school, I wanted to be a fashion designer to bring variety to everybody. So at the time, I started free-lance modeling. I had so much fun teaching and showing others how to pose. Fast forward to when I had my son, I had borrowed a friend’s camera and started photographing all the babies (because a bunch of us all had them at the same time). Then thinking back to my high school days and being a new mom (I had been through a traumatic twin pregnancy) I decided I wanted to give back to us women since we always put others first. That and as you grow, your body changes, your journey and life lessons change. It’s a great way to give back while helping others find themselves again or celebrate something special or even celebrating a life event to take your power back.

You have held events and galas, can you tell us about those? Seem super amazing!

Hosting events and gala’s is such a fun way to give back to the community. I’m always trying to connect with other like-mind people and create ways to do something special for yourself or make connections.

We hosted our first women’s Winter Goddess Gala and it was such a hit that we are bringing it back this year. There are actually 3 parts to this special event. 1. We honor special clients with our Fab over 40 project (yes, we are still accepting participants). 2. We are bringing women together in a way to  meet others, have something fun to look forward to and get dressed up and possibly connect with other women. 3.Hosting a fundraiser, with local sponsors, and donating all the proceeds to the Women’s Center.

WHAT WAS THE FINAL PUSH TO FOLLOW YOUR DREAMS AND START ON YOUR OWN? WHAT WAS THE “AHA” MOMENT FOR YOU?

Oh my goodness! What a great question. I feel it’s about pushing past the fear and getting outside of your comfort zone. There was never one push other than deciding to go for it and put all my heart into it.

How do you balance all that you do while being a mom?

I don’t know if it’s about balance or more so finding ways to do what needs to be done in each season. For many years, I did everything myself- working multiple jobs, becoming a single mom and also pushing the business. Some days I would work 20 hour days. Now, I use my time more wisely and hire where I need help. We actually have an incredible team of women, both locally and all over the country.

Just for fun!

Describe yourself in three words.

Passionate, Loving, Open-minded

What is your favorite cocktail?

Locally, I love the pop rocks and apple martini’s from Splash. Otherwise, you’ll find me with a margarita or something
