Great Harvest Bread Co. Review
I am always one to look for unique places to eat. A place in the heart of a community. A place where they only bake with the freshest and most natural ingredients. To my delight-Great Harvest Bread Co. in downtown Delafield is all that and more. Not only do they bake their bread with fresh whole grains-they are an old-fashioned scratch bakery! They have sweet treats such as muffins, scones and biscotti, breakfast paninis, great sandwiches such as the Nashotah Club, Kettle Moraine Chicken Salad, and my favorite the Great Harvest Veggie, soup, coffee and more. Every item on their menu, from their bakery uses natural ingredients. They are proud to use just five pure and simple ingredients in their breads: fresh stone-ground flour, water, pure honey, yeast and salt. That is it! Which means there are no additives, preservatives, chemicals or synthetic dough condoners like all the store bought bread at the store. How great is that? You can feel confident that your family is eating right.
What also makes Great Harvest Bread Co. wonderful is the service you receive. You walk in the door and are greeted with a friendly hello, and are asked to stop at the breadboard to try a slice of bread or to sample some features of the day. You are overtaken by the smells of fresh-baked bread, which makes you eager to try everything! The staff is so helpful, knowledgeable and eager to serve you. The owner, Jon Rasmussen is a great guy who is involved in lake country’s community. After talking with him, you know how proud he is of his bakery, his enthusiasm shines. I asked him what would he like the people to know about Great Harvest Bread Co. He told me he wanted people to know they are “Whole Grain Headquarters” and most importantly you can taste the different in all of their products.
On their website, Jon states ” Our purpose and passion is to provide you and your family with the freshest and most flavorful baked goods you’ve ever tasted. Visit our bakery for a free slice of fresh bread or a taste of our legendary sweets. Enjoy yourself and bring your children. We’re a locally owned and community focused neighborhood bakery.” A statement like that is what I look for in the restaurants I choose to take my family to.

They also offer all natural fruit spreads and butters, Frontier Gourmet soup mixes, Honeyville Whipped Wildflower Honey, Great Harvest Fresh Whole Grain Mixes, Alterra coffee beans, and other unique products and gifts available for purchase on their shelves! Then even feature select wines which are the perfect and delicious pairing to take home with their handcrafted bread. My recommendation is buy more than one loaf of bread at a time, it’s so good-it goes fast! You will want to come back for more, I promise you.
