Fall Season Fav: The Elegant Farmer
Autumn is here! Well, by our standards it is-school has begun, the football season has started, leaves are falling, we have cooler and crisper nights. The time is upon us. If you are like me, you are in love. As much as I adore summer, I’m ready for this. To me there is nothing better than the spirit and excitement of the season. The beauty of red, orange, yellow and brown take over for awhile making the lake country area truly an amazing sight. The smell of burning leaves and pumpkin spice, the taste and warmth of apple cider, the sound of rustling leaves while kids play, and the brisk feeling in the air…all upon the anticipation of bountiful harvests and meals and the fun of trick-or-treating and playing make believe for children and adults alike.
Now is the season!
So, when I think of all these things, there is one place that comes to mind! It is a bit out of the lake country area-but a well-known and pretty “famous” place. There is a chance you have been there. Yes, I am speaking of The Elegant Farmer-located at 1545 Main Street in Mukwonago, WI 53149. The Elegant Farmer is just that-a place you will find bakery, homemade goodness, fresh picked produce, unique offerings and gift items. It is also home of the award-winning Apple Pie Baked in a Paper Bag®. It has been The Elegant Farmer’s signature item for decades-if you have not had one, I suggest you go NOW! This all offered all year long.
What is special about now, is that is Autumn Harvest Fest during weekends now through October 26th, from 10am-5pm. During Autumn Harvest Fest you can bring your family for apple picking, to find that perfect pumpkin, go on a tractor-pulled hayride, ride the vintage train, even ride a pony, go through their fun 5 acre-corn maze, and eat as many warm cider donuts as you can handle, make your own carmel apple, enjoy a BBQ pulled pork sandwich, indulge in a slice of apple pie a la mode-even bring your camera for some great photo-ops with hay bales, wooden horses, the smilin’ barn itself and all the Autumn Harvest Fest fun and offerings! On their website it lists what is ready for picking that coming weekend, so you always know what is fresh and the best!
