Instead of hibernating indoors in front of your fireplace, grab your kids, your friends, your loved ones and head outside! There is so much to do in Waukesha County, it’s pretty incredible. From sledding to snowshoeing to snowmobiling to ice-skating, Waukesha County has it all! I dug around to find the perfect winter family activities in Waukesha County. Cross Country Skiing, Hiking, Snowshoeing Fun!
Waukesha County Park System
The Park System has over 16 miles of groomed cross-country ski trails:
Menomonee Park
W220 N7884 Townline Road in Menomonee Falls-three loops totaling 4.5 miles on gently rolling terrain.
Minooka Park
1927 E. Sunset Drive in Waukesha- has three loops totaling 6 miles on gently rolling terrain.
Nashotah Park
W330 N5113 County Highway C in Nashotah-has three loops totaling 6 miles on gently rolling to hilly terrain.
The Park System also has trails that are not groomed but can be used for hiking,
skiing and snowshoeing at the following parks:
Fox River Park has three loops totaling 4.5 miles.
Muskego Park has three loops totaling 3 miles.
Retzer Nature Center has one loop totaling 1 mile.
(Snowshoe rental is available at Retzer’s Environmental Learning Center.)

Sledding Fun!
Sledding hills are everywhere! In the Waukesha County Park System the sledding hills are located at Menomonee Park, Minooka Park, Nashotah Park, and Mukwonago Park W325S9945 Beulah Road, in Mukwonago.
Lowell Park/Hill
A rare & unique gem!

Lowell Park is a seasonal favorite for children and adults of all ages. It offers large sledding hills,
an amazing toboggan run and an outdoor ice skating rink.
Snowmobiling Fun!
The trail system in Waukesha County is maintained and groomed by clubs and volunteers. There are 5 groomers positioned through out the county to keep the 135 miles of trails in peak condition. You can call the trail hotline at 414-299-0330 or visit their site.
Ice Skating Fun!
If you do in fact prefer to stay inside or are waiting until the lakes are frozen, you can ice skate
indoors at 2 great Waukesha County locations.
Naga-Waukee Park Ice Arena, 2699 Golf Road in Delafield

Alpine Valley Resort East Troy, WI
Alpine Valley Resort is a resort located in the Town of Lafayette, Walworth County, Wisconsin. It has a golf course and ski runs, the longest being a 2500-foot run.
Mountain Top at Lake Geneva Lake Geneva, WI
Downhill ski or snowboard 18 slopes or cross country ski or snow shoe 10 kilometers of scenic trails. Lessons available for both kids and adults. Night skiing until 10pm. Group rates available as well. Plus enjoy all of the activities that the resort has to offer including ice skating and tobogganing. Skiing in Wisconsin just got better.
Sunburst Winter Sports Park Kewaskum, WI
An amazing winter sports park that includes tubing, skiing and snowboarding! Featuring 4 rope tows, 3 double chairlifts, 165 foot long magic carpet conveyor, 1 wonder carpet, 1 magic carpet and 2 hook lifts with 13 runs. They also feature lessons, and kid’s programs all season long.
