We Turned One! Happy Birthday, The Lake Country Mom!
Over a year ago, I decided to take the plunge and start a blog. It started small. I have always shared what was going on locally with friends and family, and shared things my daughter and I made or what ideas I had. So, I thought why not make it all in one place? I first started out at The Lake Country Mama-my daughter calls me mama, and I tend to call my mom, mama. I first started out with a Facebook page, I shared local events, DIY crafts and some recipes-I quickly had fans! I was so excited! Within a few days I decided to start on my website/blog. Sadly, I went to go purchase the URL and it was just bought by another local blogger, who I guess saw me as competition. Was I mad? Was I upset? Yes, of course. Mama is near and dear to me-but it’s didn’t stop my dream! I settled on The Lake Country Mom. I use “the” as it stands for all the lake country moms out there (but I do not forget about dads either!)
The Lake Country Mom is growing each day, and it holds such a special place in my heart. Every single day I receive messages, comments, and emails from so many parents, grandparents, sitters, caregivers, even couples without kids- filled with gratitude, and kind words that The Lake Country Mom exists. It makes my heart so happy. I have enjoyed meeting so many of you face to face at some of the events The Lake Country Mom has attended or help create! I am just a regular mom, a parent, a girl just like you living in lake country-and I am truly humbled when approached by an excited reader just like you!
I am here today to tell you how thankful I am for you, for you taking the time to read what I write, for following me on social media, for sharing what I have written, for all the kind words you have said, for supporting my dream. I am thankful for all of the local businesses that have advertised, sponsored and/or have collaborated with The Lake Country Mom. I have met incredible people in our community in the past year and have made some amazing new friendships. We truly live in an absolute beautiful community with so many choices of things to do with awesome people.
