Winter Farmers’ Markets in Wisconsin We Love
I don’t know about you, but I miss summer so much. I am really over winter, everything about it. I miss going to the beach, grilling outside into the night, walks around the block, playing at the park, and shopping at outdoor farmers’ markets! I cannot help you with most of those, but over the weekend I went to some winter farmers’ markets in Wisconsin. I was so impressed, it was so fun, and I found some amazing produce and awesome homemade/ handmade treats and unique food items! I would like to share.

About: The Milwaukee County Winter Farmers’ Market (MCWFM) is a nonprofit organization, guided by a seven person board of directors. The mission of the Market is to promote local, sustainable agriculture; increase economic opportunities for small family farms and innovative food businesses; provide equitable access to wholesome food; and build a vibrant gathering place for metro Milwaukee residents and visitors. Our 35 weekly vendors live within 90 miles of a well-situated, indoor venue at Mitchell Park Domes. There, agricultural vendors offer high quality fruit, vegetables, meat, eggs, poultry and dairy products. Local food vendors also bring a wide variety of freshly baked goods, jams, cider, honey, maple syrup, sorghum, sauces and soups, as well as delicious ethnic cuisine.

About: Whether it be meats, flowers, cheese, bakery, or plants, the Dane County Farmers’ Market offers the highest quality our region offers. DCFM producers regularly receive national and internation recognition for the quality of their products. Where quality-conscious chefs shop for their staple products, some say the soul of the local foods movement was born at this market. The average wait time before producers are invited to sell at the market ranges around five years. Not only is the DCFM where the best chefs want to buy, it’s where the best producers want to sell.

One sentence in the description of the Milwaukee County Winter Farmers’ Market should be updated: “Our 35 weekly vendors live within 90 miles of a well-situated, indoor venue at Mitchell Park Domes.” We are no longer located at Wisconsin Stat Fair Park. Thank you, Rachel.

Hi Deb! Thanks so much for the catch, I knew you were not at the State Fair Park, I should have caught that when I copied and pasted from the Milwaukee County Winter Farmer’s Market website when I was doing the about section! I changed it, thank-you so much for stopping by!
