Labor day weekend is typically a long four-day weekend for most families. Some travel and get-away, while others stay close to home and enjoy local events and things-to-do. Labor Day is a kick-off event for the beautiful colors of fall and the end of a fun summer. It’s bittersweet, isn’t it?

  • Aug 30 – Sep 1 Baraboo – Baraboo River Rendezvous. Fur trade re-enactment and rendezvous held on the site of the first settled part of Baraboo. See the camps, talk to the traders, and enjoy the events and period food vendors. Spirit Point on Mill Race Drive. Event starts at 9:00AM and ends at 5:00PM. For more information call (608) 356-8172.
  • Aug 30 – Sep 1 Green Lake – Jazzin’ Up The Links. Come relax in the beautiful setting of Wisconsin’s oldest golf course as we prepare the sloped incline of the 11th fairway where you can relax with a perfect view of the stage against our log cabin styled condominium complex. All weekend long will be live jazz music by top acts along with wine tasting, fine foods, coffee’s and an art show showcasing some the the areas accomplished artist artisans and crafters.   • 30 – 31 Prairie du Sac – Wisconsin State Cow Chip Throw. Try your hand at flinging cow chips! This fun event features flying cow pies, music, art & craft fair (on Sat), parade and food. Two stages of live entertainment on Saturday. Marion Park. For more information call (608) 643-4317.
  • Aug 30 – Sep 2 Shell Lake – Town & Country Days. Celebrate Labor Day Weekend in Shell Lake with street dances, food booths, sports contests, tractor pull, kiddie and grand parades, flea market, sailing regatta, games, contests, arts & crafts, and fly-in breakfast.   • 31 Johnson Creek – Free Live Music Performance by Velocity Band at Johnson Creek Premium Outlets. The Summer Music Series, presented by Coca Cola, will offer free live music throughout the summer at Johnson Creek Premium Outlets. On August 31, Velocity Band will perform from 12:30-4:30 p.m. as part of the Labor Day Sidewalk Sale. This is a family fun, kid-friendly, free event for all. 575 W.
