I sometimes get lost in my own self pity, but, I look at my husband, he misses his Father, together we mourn the man who’s body moved on this year, but the life inside of it, the soul, had vacated it years before. My husbands pain very deep and raw, something I would bear for him, if I could. But since it’s not something that can be done it is easy to say. I think of those that I have lost, the high school suicide, the late 20’s death by his own hand, the car accident that snuffed out more than 1 life, the best friend who’s demons could not be drowned until he finally succumbed.
And I remind myself how precious life is.
Cameron’s Arrival – My Labor Day
I entered the hospital around 2 pm on Monday, June 10 and had Cameron James Appleton at 3:39 am on Tuesday, June 11, weighing 7lbs, 4 oz. and was 21” long. I’m glad he didn’t wait until his due date, 15 days later, or he would have been a rather big baby. He came out absolutely perfect and loved by so many.
Hosting a Successful Thanksgiving
Thanksgiving – a day of forgiveness…..no it’s a day of being thankful. A day gratitude and blessings and being with friends and family. If you didn’t get my Friends reference, you may not understand some of my jokes in this post, but try to follow along and use the images as reference. My husband and I are huge fans of the show Friends and no other sitcom did Thanksgiving nearly as well.

A Somewhere In Between Mom
Whether you’re a work-at-home mom, a work out of the home mom, a work at an office mom, a uniformed mom or a somewhere in between mom, you are still Mom first and foremost. Whatever way you choose to support your family, your first job is Mom. We are all bonded in a special way, this motherhood tribe. We need to remember this. Instead of tearing each other down, we need to be lifting each other up. Rejoicing in each other’s triumphs and lending a shoulder when the tears start falling.
THE FEAR DISTRICT AND A LAKE COUNTRY HAUNTED HOUSE ROUND UP!
Lake Country in October is one of my favorite times of year. The fall colors and crisp air seem to turn our little corner of the world into an even more magical place to live. While I love to throw back a Pumpkin Spice Latte, take a stroll through a bucolic storybook apple orchard or light up my autumn leaves scented candles and fully embrace sweater weather with the best of them, there’s also something to be said for getting into the spooky side of October as well. In my opinion, no one does Halloween quite like Lake Country.

A Letter to My Second Born on His First Birthday
As I reflect back on the past year, I must admit it had its challenges. I wasn’t in the best place mentally when you were born, and adjusting to life with two is a bigger change than I anticipated. In fact, we are still trying to figure out what works best for our family. And yes, there were more happy and heart-bursting moments than not, but a very real theme for me this past year has been major mom-guilt.
