12 Tips On How To Keep Your House Clean Without Really Trying
I, by no means, am an expert or consider my own home to be the super tidy model home that we were referring to above, but my sister does jokingly call my house “the museum” and I do take pride in keeping a mostly clean, tidy, and organized home. Now that I am a mom of an 18-month-old, a furry dog baby named Henry Ford and pregnant with number two, I have learned some tricks to help me stay on top of housekeeping without a huge, concerted effort. I also consulted with other moms whose homes I revere as spotless to see what hacks they leverage to share with you (and to steal personally).
Local mom shares her love of cooking on YouTube
Making things from scratch, or semi-homemade, teaches a lot of different skills to children as well. You need to read a recipe thoroughly and correctly or take the risk of your hard work not turning out. Measurements need to be pretty precise for baking, and knowing the difference between a teaspoon and tablespoon can make a big difference to your end result. And, of course, getting to spend time together laughing and working is the best part.
Refresh Your Child’s Diet with Low-Sugar Options
Many families look to the new year as a time to reset their eating habits and focus on making healthier choices. However, adults aren’t the only ones who could use a menu refresh. A study by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention found nearly all of the toddlers in […]
Pippy Pants, a local Oconomowoc mom shares her dream
We had the chance to learn all about Katy Prushiek, a local mom from Oconomowoc who had a dream and turned it into reality. My husband (Chris) and I have two children Brady (3) and Ella (1). I first became frustrated with socks when Brady began crawling (to this day […]
How to cope with parent guilt: 3 things to keep in mind
No two children—or families—are the same. Trust yourself to know what yours needs and make decisions accordingly. Your feelings might change with time, so celebrate the experiences you’re offering yourself and your children right now, and don’t forget to find joy in the miracle of your unique child.
Creating Work-Life Balance
Believing you can get there is the first step. If you’re already thinking that’s not something attainable for you, you’re already blocking your brain from figuring out ways to make it a success for you. I have two little kids with another on the way. I want to be able to spend as much time with them as possible. I want to take a maternity leave that I want, not what a job tells me I can do.
Explore Curiosities Here: Preschool at University Lake School
At ULS, preprimary students are encouraged to observe, question, hypothesize and experiment. In fact, topics of study are built upon the interests and curious thinking of our youngest learners. These meaningful investigations teach age-appropriate skills by connecting academics to hands-on projects that inspire their curiosity. Projects vary from year to […]
Halloween Fun at Home
This year has definitely been different to say the least, and no one knows what our new normal will look like. Going into the colder months, we are going to be spending more time indoors and many holidays may look quite a bit different this year. Halloween is up next […]
Home Decor DIY with Sarah
Many of us have been homebound during the pandemic and if you are like me, you became a little bored looking at the same view in your home day after day. DIY home improvement projects are skyrocketing and those big box stores are going to have record years. Even in […]
Have you heard of Zion Lutheran Church & School in Hartland?
Zion Lutheran Church & School has been a part of the Hartland and Lake
Country communities for over 150 years. Zion is a Christ-centered,
biblical, and sacramental church. We cherish the Bible as God’s Word
and take its words at face value. We cherish God’s gifts of
forgiveness and grace given through baptism and the Lord Supper. We
worship on Sundays, 10:30am at our school building (1023 E Capitol Dr,
Hartland 53029).
Farmers Markets in Waukesha County
It’s Farmers’ Market season and they are open and ready to share their local products with all of us. I love visiting farmers’ markets and even roadside vegetable stands to pickup some great local faire for my family. So far this year, I have attended the Waukesha Farmers’ Market, and […]
Safer at home fun
We are all feeling a bit stir crazy by now and knowing that we will be like this for maybe another month may make some moms doubling up on their wine orders. But do not fret, we are all feeling the stress and pressures of the work/life balance, especially when it’s all under one roof.

Postpartum Must-Haves: One Mom’s Opinion
So, I’m 3 months in to my 3rd postpartum period. Some days it feels like I’m a seasoned veteran, some days like a clueless rookie. I’m blessed (and have been blessed the last 2 times around) with healthy, relatively easy newborns. But that doesn’t mean that there aren’t a few tried and true […]

Finding Joy
I sometimes get lost in my own self pity, but, I look at my husband, he misses his Father, together we mourn the man who’s body moved on this year, but the life inside of it, the soul, had vacated it years before. My husbands pain very deep and raw, something I would bear for him, if I could. But since it’s not something that can be done it is easy to say. I think of those that I have lost, the high school suicide, the late 20’s death by his own hand, the car accident that snuffed out more than 1 life, the best friend who’s demons could not be drowned until he finally succumbed.
And I remind myself how precious life is.
Cameron’s Arrival – My Labor Day
I entered the hospital around 2 pm on Monday, June 10 and had Cameron James Appleton at 3:39 am on Tuesday, June 11, weighing 7lbs, 4 oz. and was 21” long. I’m glad he didn’t wait until his due date, 15 days later, or he would have been a rather big baby. He came out absolutely perfect and loved by so many.
Hosting a Successful Thanksgiving
Thanksgiving – a day of forgiveness…..no it’s a day of being thankful. A day gratitude and blessings and being with friends and family. If you didn’t get my Friends reference, you may not understand some of my jokes in this post, but try to follow along and use the images as reference. My husband and I are huge fans of the show Friends and no other sitcom did Thanksgiving nearly as well.
